Activating 3ds Max Design on Vista 64 threw up a final error message of 'not able to write new serial to registry' or similar wording. Now I have an activated install but blank serial no.
Unlike in Revit and some other A'desk products there is no option in Help About I wondered if anyone else had come across this or knew how to update the serial no. I don't know specifically, but I was under the impression that Autodesk will provide 30 days free support on installation of your software.
You should try contacting them. Alternatively, be sure you are not running any registry cleaners. They really muck up the works with adsk products.
Incidentally purchasing 3DS Max Design has been er, interesting I've given up hope of fixing the serial on my activated-but-blank-serialnumber install of 3ds max design , short of reinstalling Vista 64 - I'll just wait until I get a new Core i7 machine. More worrying is that my 3DS max design subscription says 'no support', so I cannot file a support request my Revit sub says 'web support'. Still chasing my reseller about this but it seems to me that you have very little leverage until subscription renewal comes up Can anyone tell me what a 'typical' single user subscription says about their level of support please?
